Gilbert Gottfried's Post-Aflac Firing Apology
Getting himself into a bit of a controversial situation, Gilbert Gottfried made a public announcement to apologize for posting jokes about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on Twitter.
A day after losing his job as the voice of the Aflac duck as a result of his inappropriate postings, the “Problem Child” actor said, "I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan."
He continued, “I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
This isn’t the first time Gottfried joked about a tragedy. Three weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks, he ribbed that he tried to get a direct flight into New York "but they said they have to stop at the Empire State Building first."
