I couldn't let Shyam sir down: Minissha Lamba

Minissha Lamba has just returned from a gruelling one month outdoor schedule of WELL DONE ABBA. Though she is chilling out at the moment and catching up with friends and family, she looks back quite fondly on working with director Shyam Benegal.

“Much before beginning to shoot for the film, I was sure about one thing that I couldn’t let Shyam sir down”, says Minissha with respect in her voice for the veteran film maker, “Here I was working with a man who has been directing for 35 years now so I had to be nothing but perfect with my performance.”

With such a senior person calling the shots, wasn’t it intimidating to take directions from him?

“Honestly, it wasn’t intimidating because Shyam sir is a pro in working with actors. He knows how to take care of them and extract the best out of them.

This is why I didn’t even know how an entire month passed by and the shooting got over. More than him calling the shots, what was really unnerving was the kind of immense pressure that I had put myself into. For me, every day was a challenge as I had to give my very best”, she shoots off.

“With such an ensemble cast in the film, you have to be on your toes all the time. There were some scenes in particular which were quite challenging and I didn’t really know where I was and what was I doing.

But as I said, Shyam sir gets it going for his actors at the end of the day. I can only say that working in WELL DONE ABBA was an educative trip for me and I only came back a little more well versed in cinema”, signs off Minissha.

With Boman Irani playing the title role of ‘Abba’ and Minissha Lamba as his daughter, the film also stars Sameer Dattani (as Minissha’s love interest), Ravi Kishan, Ila Arun, Salim Ghouse, Sonali Kulkarni, Rajit Kapoor, Yashpal Sharma and Ravi Jhankal. A BIG Pictures production, the film has lyrics by Swanand Kirkire, Ila Arun and Ashok Mishra with music by Shantanu Moitra.

After her sexy bikini act in Kidnap, Minissha Lamba is every man's ultimate fantasy. Hence, it comes as no surprise to see the Bollywood hottie feature on the cover page of popular men's magazine 'The Man'.

Minissha, who features in 'The Man' magazine's May issue, talks about a number of interesting things right from how she would like to be wooed to her choice of films. Minissha wants to be all bloodied & bruised

That Minissha Lamba is a versatile actress is something that we all know but not too many of us know that she takes a keen interest in the bat and ball game.

In town recently, we caught up with the actress who was busy catching up on the IPL action on television. “Cricket is fun, especially the new T20 format! It’s a complete entertainer. Even women love watching this game. And why not? It gets over in just three hours,” Minissha says.

But cricket is not the only game that gets her adrenaline pumping. The actress turned out to be quite a sport as she adds, “I like tennis also, as your heart is always in your mouth. Also, I’m fond of adventure sports like river rafting and scuba diving.”
Little wonder then that Minissha is keen to indulge in some kick ass action, “I am looking forward to doing an action film where I am all bloodied, bruised and aching.” Whether she gets to don this avatar remains to be seen, but the actress will soon be seen playing a village belle in Shyam Benegal’s Well Done Abba.

From a bikini babe in Kidnap to a village girl in Well Done Abba, the actress is sure excited about her new role in the film. “It’s really interesting and I have had great fun reinventing myself. Also, I had to learn the Dakini dialect for the project. It was really tough, not only for me but also for my friends.

During my learning process whenever they used to call me I would talk in Dakini and they thought that I’d lost it,” laughs Minissha. Dubbing her experience of working with Shyam Benegal a “dream come true,” the actress says, “I count myself lucky that Sir chose me for his film. In fact, I couldn’t believe it was happening. He has been making films even before I was born.”

Recounting her experience with the veteran filmmaker, she adds, “We were shooting at 43 degrees in Hyderabad. While the youngsters would have a tough time in that heat, Sir would be there from 8 am till pack-up. He wouldn’t even go to his vanity van. I admire his passion and energy. During lunchtime we would all sit together and Sir would regale us with his tales. I would walk into the set with my head bowed down. Every time I sensed that Sir wasn’t happy with my performance I would feel shattered. But if he liked any particular shot my day was made.”

Q. What kind of liquids do you prefer to keep away from dehydration?
A. Water comes first off course. Then I like to keep afresh with lime juice and coconut water.

Q. What measures you take to prevent your skin from sun burn?
A. I do prefer sunglasses and caps to keep me out of it.

Q. Do you avoid any kind of food habits in summer?
A. Yup, I like to avoid food which is oily. It’s always better to have light food when you face the sun’s heat.

Q. Is there any change in your fitness regime too?
A. Not at all. Whatever season may it be, my fitness regime never goes through any change.

Q. Which place do you prefer to chill out in Mumbai?
A. There’s nothing better than one’s house. I just love to get into my bedroom.

Q. What about your summer holidays?
A. See, it’s hard to get holidays in Bollywood. But then too if it happens I would love to spend it in Katmandu, Nepal.

Minissha replaces Katrina in Bollywood!

Has Kidnap girl Minissha Lamba replaced Katrina Kaif in Bollywood?

minissha-replaces-katrina-in-bollywood

If rumours are to be believed Minissha has got some well wishers in Bollywood who are trying to help her to save her dying film career.

According to an industry insider Akki who used to recommend Katrina to the producers, is now recommending Minissha’s to his producers.

Interestingly both haven’t worked together in single film. Reportedly Minissha’s Kidnap co actor Imran Khan has also recommending her to some producers.

Though helping co actors to make their career is not new in Bollywood. Reportedly Salman and Akshay have done it before for their co actresses. We hope Akki and Imraan’s recommendations will save Minissha’s dying career.

After bikini act Minissha goes for plastic surgery

Minissha Lamba kept on displaying her girl next door image until she got all fed up of it and suddenly decided to turn sexy. She donned a bikini and itsy bitsy clothes in the Id release 'Kidnap' but unfortunately fell flat on her face.

Actually this dame neither has the body nor the attitude to turn hot. The buzz is that now she's gone under the knife to get a better nose.

Minissha is rumoured to have undergone plastic surgery to get a thin and pointed nose. The actress felt she had a broad nose which didn't look good on her face.

'To hell with natural beauty', that seems to be the mantra in Bollywood right now.

Now it's well known that both Koena Mitra and Shilpa Shetty look unnatural because of their nose jobs. Koena recently made a very candid confession that her nose job was a huge mistake that distorted her face, compelling her to go into a shell and avoid being in public for months.

Shilpa has never admitted to having had such complications but her fake nose has always looked unnatural on her face. Same goes for the likes of Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra who look made up most of the time.

Well the chances of this nose job actually helping Minissha's sagging career looks difficult. Let's wait and watch.

Add to My MSN Add to My Yahoo Minissha disappointed with her failed Bikini act

Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba, whose much-hyped last venture "Kidnap" bombed at the box office, says she is disappointed that the film didn't turn out well at the box office.

"I am disappointed that 'Kidnap' didn't turn out well. It really feels sad when you work so hard for a film and which is so close to you and it doesn't do well, " Minissha said.

The actress shaved off seven kg for her role as a 17-year-old teenager in the film following a rigorous regime over a period of eight months. However, Minissha says she would never go to the extremes of putting on mass for a character in any film.

"I am never ever going to put on weight for a character in a film. I am one of those body types who find it very difficult losing weight and so I am never going to do that. Putting on weight is a nightmare for me, " she said.

Minissha's switches from 'bikni' to 'saree'

Minissha has become the talk of the town. This wonderful actor is constantly slipping her image. Initially in Bachna Ae Haseeno we saw her sweet girl next door act and everyone thought she could only play sweet, innocent kind of roles. However, her sizzling look in Sanjay Gadhvi’s ‘Kidnap’ proved everyone fallacious. After her ‘bikini’ girl image, speculation was that she would be keener to carry this image forward.
However, she continues to flip and once again, she surprises all her fans by slipping into a saree. Yes, the actor features on the cover of fashion & style magazine ‘Seventeen’ shot by ace photographer Subi Samuel, in the October issue and even though she is donning a pink saree with golden yellow polka dots, she just looks stunning.
In this issue, Minissha talks about her experience of romancing some of the hottest guys of bollywood, shares some of her experience of her high-school days memories and even gives some invaluable advice to all girls of her age.
Well this one will be real treat for all her fans who are eager to know more about her

Don't read If you can't take the heat - Minnisha

"If you can't take the heat, then, DO NOT tickle the dragon."

Well, that's how this Goddess of Beauty can be rightly described, who has only added glitters to the already glittering cover of the recent issue of Maxim. She is none other than Minissha Lamba, who has, today, deservingly become not just the talk of the town, but also the toast of the town!

Had she not become an actress, journalism was the way to go for this chic, who, only recently 'Kidnapped' every cinegoer's dream with her star-tling screen presence in the recent flick Kidnap. Even though the film saw a roller coaster collections at the Box-Office windows, but everyone who saw the film was high on/ with Minissha's dose!

Well, for those who are envious about the secret behind this svelte hour glass figure, eat your hearts out, as, on her own admission, Minissha says that it's actually "Imran helped me in my weight loss regime"!

And what does this beauty think of as her 'best feature'? Well, the answer to that are her hands!

Here comes the real shocker! If one has to ask this lasso out on a date, then, the best way is neither through an Armani, Gucci nor even Louis Vuitton!

Instead, Minissha says that "The surefire way to score a date with me is not to show too much interest...I like it when someone keeps me guessing!" Well, so you see, you will have to act 'dis-interested' to get this ''Miss-interested'!

This one will surely serve as 'Dummies guide to woo Minissha Lamba'. She confesses that she is not someone who is easy to approach. One will only manage to score those brownie points on intelligence.

Standard pickup lines just do not happen in Minissha's life! And even a conversation does not lead to a date, as she does not give her telephone number! Sad...but as they say...such is life. What say, Minissha!

Minisha " I call Imran Khan a walking, talking Encyclopedia"

How was your experience with ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and Yashraj camp?
Minisha Lamba & Ranbir KapoorMy experience has been fantastic; everyone has always been talking about, how Yashraj pampers their actors and they are so good to work with! And after experiencing it firsthand, I must say there are people claimed who are extremely hospitable, know what they are doing, and treat everyone with great respect and great equality.

How was your experience with the entire cast of ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, especially Ranbir Kapoor?
Everyone was fantastic! I didn’t have any common scenes with Bipasha or Dipika, so we didn’t shoot together, but we did promote the film together. And when 3 girls getting together, they talk about all things like from clothes, gossips to boys; everything so it was great fun.

Recently when we had an article on hairstyles of bollywood actresses, many fans said they loved your hair in “Bachna Ae Haseeno”? What do you want to say to your fans?
Thank you so much! Siddhartha and I were experimenting on that look, we didn’t know whether we should do it or not. Siddharth was very confident and he told me “go ahead, it’s a really nice look, we’ll try it because we want you to look completely different in the post chapter”. It’s really nice to see that people have appreciated and liked it.

Tell us something about your role in the upcoming Minisha Lambamovie ‘kidnap’?
In kidnap again I play the role of 17 year old girl, who is very hep and modern. She is someone who is excluded from her father and therefore is on a constant fight with her mother because she does not allow her to meet her father. So finally when she ends up getting kidnapped, how her mother is forced to talk to her father in order to get her daughter rescued.

In both the movies ‘Kidnap’ and ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ you are playing a role of a teenager. How will you differentiate yourself as ‘Mahi’ and ‘Sonia’?
Well completely, these characters are like sweet and salt. Mahi is very romantic, believes in fairy tales, sweet and soft. And Sonia is someone very practical, today and ultra-modern. She has no interest in love, neither she is a nut case who is wanting love from man. This is basic difference.

How is working with Imraan Khan and Sanjay Dutt in ‘Kidnap’?
Minisha Lamba & Imran KhanFantastic! I have worked with Mr. Dutt before, this is our second film together but we hardly had any scenes together, but whenever we interact, he is so courteous and warm. He is a very shy person and also a very senior actor so one always has that respect for him.
Imraan khan was someone I got along with like a house on fire. We were like two mad hatters who just kept on jabbering all the time about everything. He is a very knowledgeable person, someone who knows everything. So it’s great fun chatting and quizzing him, I use to call him a ‘walking, talking Encyclopedia’, because you can ask him anything and if he doesn’t have the answer, he will get it within 7 minutes flat and he let you know all that you need to know.

Describe your dream role to us?
My dream role is to do a periodic film.

Whom you see as your icon for being a successful actress?
I see Maduri Dixit as an icon for being a successful actress

Message for all your fans at bollycurry.com?
I love all my bollycurry fans. Thank you so much for your love, support and everything that you have given me. Please do go watch my new film ‘Kidnap’ to watch me in an all new avatar

Minissha Lamba is definitely sexy: Imran Khan

So what rules are you going to set for us while we watch Kidnap?
What rules do I set? You'll have to wait and see this one man! This is a really tricky film. In that I have to be very careful with every question that I answer because I might give something away.

So much of the film relies on mystery and the audiences not knowing what's going on. It's like a minefield. Every single question you ask has to be analysed.

Is the battle inevitable? Drona v/s Kidnap and Abhishek Bachchan v/s Imran Khan?
Every single Friday a film releases. There are many Friday's where three to four films are released. This comparison business is inevitable. There are more films than the weekends in the year.

There are going to be clashes, there will be films releasing on the same day, you make your film and promote it the best that you can and make sure that it is the best you can possibly make and hope for the best. That is what is going to happen when two biggies meet on October 2.

Kidnap's scripting has been in the making since five years. Don't you think that Kidnap is releasing a bit late or do you take it as a bonus after your JTYJN success?
Two things. Firstly, it's a tremendous bonus for me. It gives me a chance and a challenge to stretch myself to the limit. Nothing like it.

Secondly, when it comes to late, I don't think so. Jaane Tu also took a long time coming together. We had a lot of problem while we were making that film. The project got stuck and then it got restarted. But in spite of that the film touched success only because the product was good.

We all feel the same way about Kidnap. Certainly you have to update a few things. Now say from 2003 to 2005, few things changed. Technology changes a little bit and you have to update those little things. But the base story of the film never changes.

What did you learn from the father figure like co-star Sanjay Dutt?
I didn't learn anything from him. He doesn't preach. If you know him at all and have tracked his career, you'll come to the conclusion that he is a guy who has walked his own path. He is very much the rebel, very much the rock star.

He does it his way and the way he wants to do it. Sanju baba is not the one who is going to go around telling people how to live their lives.

Tell me something interesting about Sanjay Dutt.
Ok. Here you go. We are doing a scene together and I'll sit with my dialogues for 45 minutes before I get ready.

I'll march up and down the stairs doing rehearsals and reciting my lines this way - that way, taking a pause here and there. Sanju baba will walk on the sets and the assistant director will hand over the dialogues to him. He will sit and read through it once.

We then do the scene where I say my lines and he'll say his line and look at me with sheer intensity that I forget the rest of my lines. Such is the weight of this actor. The gravity he brings with him shocks you.

The cute Minissha Lamba is out and the sexy Minissha Lamba is in. What say?
Definitely she is sexy. But having said that, she is not a damsel in distress. There is a major confrontation scene between me and Minissha. She is not a girl who is kidnapped.

She is very much Sanjay Dutt's daughter. She is fearless and fights back with a vengeance. Sanjay Dutt's character is like a very tough and a fearless guy. Like father like daughter.

She doesn't submit that easily and looks for a way out to escape, she looks for a way to hurt the kidnapper, etc. Yes, a tough and a sexy Minissha for the first time on screen.

Tell us a bit about the tattoo you sport in the film.
That's a permanent tattoo. I got it when I was seventeen. I've had it for years. It's just that in Jaane Tu, it didn't suit my character. We tried to cover it with make up and my costumes.

That's why I was seen wearing lots of collared t-shirts in the film. The shot where you see my tattoo in the trailer was in fact the last scene we shot for the film. It was the last day of the shooting and we shot it in the middle of the night.

After that shot, it was pack up. The film was over. Sanjay Gadhvi decided to use the tattoo because he knew that it was covered and hidden in Jaane Tu. He liked the look of the tattoo and he thought that it would add to the character of the kidnapper.

Were you hesitant to play a kidnapper knowing your chocolate boy looks?
I was a little hesitant to play a kidnapper. I mean, I loved the character but was a bit unsure. But at the same time I really wanted to do it.

It was a tricky role and was tough too because I couldn't find a common ground with this guy. In Jaane Tu, the guy was so much like me. I understood him very well. In Kidnap, I was fumbling and trying to hold things together.

In this tough time, Sanjay Gadhvi helped me through this. I wouldn't have been able to do this role without his support and backing.

Tell us about the time when you thought that Kidnap was not going to be made?
The entire film took about 12 months of shooting time. It took a year because Sanju went in the jail mid way. We thought the film was not going to be made now.

We had shot for about five months and we were in middle of one major shoot with Minissha and me when we got the news that the judgement had come out and that Sanju was jailed. Suddenly everything stops.

We didn't know what was going to happen. I am panicking as it was just my second film. It was Minissha's big film too and it was Sanjay Gadhvi's dream project. Plus the producers made a huge investment too. So all of us were sitting there and went mute.

We asked each other, What do we do? What next? The worst thing was that there was no body who could take Sanju's place. There were no options available. The only thing you could do was just sit and pray and hope that he comes out.

Is Kidnap a lot of burden on your shoulders than Jaane Tu?
I wasn't nervous during Jaane Tu at all. This time I am very nervous because I don't know how I have done my role. I have not seen the film and have only seen my parts during dubbing. I don't know if it's good and I don't know if people will think it's good.

Why are you growing your beard then?
Oh! This look while you are interviewing me is for Delhi Belly. I am growing my beard and growing my hair for the role. I have to keep growing it until I hear back from my director. So everyday I go to my director and say whether it's enough and he says, 'No'.

Minissha Lamba miffed with Sanjay GadhviAdd to hotlist

This is nothing new, whenever a big film is scheduled for release one of the principal artists gets miffed with the maker for not promoting them. Only last week we reported about Priyanka Chopra getting annoyed with the makers of 'Drona'. Now we have the buzz that Minissha Lamba is not happy with Sanjay Gadhvi the director of 'Kidnap' for not giving her importance in the promos of the film. Her absence from the press conference and photo shoot of the film corroborates the same.

'Kidnap' is pitted against 'Drona' on October 2 and call it a coincidence that leading ladies of both the films are miffed with their respective makers.
