It's been a whirlwind red carpet season thus far, but we're all still waiting on the main event: The 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Styling decisions for the evening's heavy hitters—who include Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Leighton Meester and countless others—won't be finalized until the big day, but if we had it our way, this is how the night would play out.
Fresh off of a big weekend in which her movie "The Roommate" topped the box office, Leighton Meester got another week of work duties underway on the "Gossip Girl" set in New York City on Monday (February 7).
The brunette beauty looked a bit tuckered out as she readied to film scenes alongside co-stars Penn Badgley and Katie Cassidy.
The outing comes as fans can look forward to a new "Gossip Girl" episode airing tonight on The CW at 9/8c.
Titled "Panic Roommate," a synopsis via the show's website reads: "Blair (Leighton Meester) enlists Nate's (Chace Crawford) help to win over her high-strung boss, Epperly (guest star Caitlin Fitzgerald), at W Magazine. Damien (guest star Kevin Zegers) stirs up more drama on the Upper East Side. Chuck (Ed Westwick) finds himself torn between business and pleasure. Florence and the Machine performs an acoustic version of 'Cosmic Love.'"
Leighton Meester And Minka Kelly Promote ‘The Roommate’
It seems like a long time since I heard about this movie, but ‘The Roommate,’ starring Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly, is finally about to be released! It looks like Leighton and Minka became close during filming, judging from how they behaved on the red carpet at a screening of ‘The Roommate’ last night.
They have very different red-carpet styles, don’t they? I’m a fan of both: what do you think? I wonder if Garrett Hedlund (the guy Leighton is rumored to be dating) and Derek Jeter (Minka’s boyfriend) were on hand behind-the-scenes to lend support?
I had wondered if Leighton Meester was going to take her music career any further. She did some of the vocal on the Cobra Starship song Good Girls Go Bad, and then as far as mainstream music goes, we didn’t hear much from her again. But Leighton says that her songwriting is a little depressed and that she’s taking it easy.
After shooting Country Strong, she said,
“Because of this movie, I started doing that for myself and writing music that speaks to me and is from my heart and apparently, I’m really depressed.”
Her co-star in the movie, Gwyneth Paltrow, gifted her with a guitar!
“I just wrote a song at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The guitar has been a nice tool for me to be able to write. I want to release the music, but I’m not pressured to do it at the moment.”
And Leighton Meester also adds that she has a whole new respect for the genre of country music.
“It’s country music, it’s an entirely different world. I grew to love it, and I have this movie to thank for that.”
I am a big Gossip Girl fan so I love to see LeightonMeester getting more exposure! Leighton covers the February issue of Seventeen Magazine and talks about how boyfriends really aren’t that important to her!
17 to LM – The last time we talked [for your cover in March 2009], having a boyfriend wasn’t a priority for you. Do you still feel that way?
LM – “Yeah. I’m glad that you’re reminding me of that! I would say the same thing today as well. I think that the importance of love is really strong for me in my life, whether it’s a guy or a friend or just my puppy. I think love changes you over time, and whether you have good or bad experiences, you always grow and learn from it. And if I shut love down or didn’t let it in, I would just be this really cold, sad person.”
Leighton’s issue of Seventeen will be on newsstands on January 4th. I love seeing her in clothes that aren’t her signature ‘Blair Waldorf’ look! Leighton can be seen next in Country Strong, opening everywhere January 11 – are you planning on seeing it? Leighon sings in the movie and is pretty good! I think it looks interesting, but not sure if I’m intrigued enough to see it in the theatres!
Uh oh. Looks like we have another Taylor Swift on our hands. Leighton Meestertalked about what her process is when she writes songs for the band she’s in and how she goes about making her music. Sounds an awfully lot like someone else we know.
“I’m working with a band right now, doing a lot of acoustic music through singing and writing. It’s really fun and fulfilling. It’s an expression of what I have in my life and what I’m going through, or what I have gone through, and of course, it’s mostly about love or relationships. The ups and downs that come along, which I think are universal.”
Next thing you know we’ll be trying to guess which Gossip Girl co-star each song is about, kind of like we do with Taylor and her men.

Leighton Meester Says Love Will Keep Her Away From Drugs
I’m going to sprinkle a little pixie dust all over this post before I get into the meat of Leighton Meester’s quote because that title just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Leighton Meester says she will never turn to drugs because she has love in her life. The 24-year-old actress – who stars in ‘Country Strong’ alongside Gwyneth Paltrow – believes the support of her family and her strong commitment to her career will help her stay on the right path. She explained:
“I think the main problem with somebody who would have so many issues is that they don’t have love in their life, and I feel like working to me is important. I want to make my family proud and I love my family. That’s what gives me the strength to do it.
“I think that part of not having love, you kind of fulfil that with drugs or alcohol or any kind of addictive or abusive substance or relationship, and it will ruin you. I guess that the lesson is just ‘Don’t do drugs, just say no.’ ”
The ‘Gossip Girl’ told JustJared.com that she also believes you don’t have to choose between a career and love:
“In my eyes I don’t think you need to choose between love and success. I haven’t had to question that. I’ve just been working and not bothering with wondering if I need to choose. I love love and I think eventually I would like to have some, I welcome it.”

First Look: Leighton Meester Sings In ‘Country Strong’
So we’ve seen Gwyneth Paltrow singing in her upcoming movie, ‘Country Strong.’ Now here’s her co-star, Leighton Meester. Leighton’s obviously not on ‘Gossip Girl’ here!
Are you looking forward to seeing ‘Country Strong’?
“It’s wonderful to be in love. And it’s definitely wonderful to cuddle and have sex and get to experience life with somebody. But it’s OK if you don’t find him and you’re 24. You can find it someday.”
Leighton Meester chatted with Us Weekly about working alongside actress Gwyneth Paltrow on the film “Country Strong”. Leighton gushed about the celebrity mom:
“She is full of surprises. As an actress, she is so giving and talented. She’s super down-to-earth and she makes dirty jokes. She’s just a cool chick.”
Leighton also shared a bit of what Gwyneth looks like at 5 in the morning:
She’s gorgeous without any makeup on! She came to set at 5:00 a.m. looking really hot.”
The Gossip Girl star is also still working on her own music:
“I’m still writing and I’m working with a band. I’m going to start performing again soon,” Meester said. “It’s kind of a different sound, because I’ve been going through a lot this year and I’m in no rush. I want it to be perfect.”
I wondered what happened to her to wanting to pursue music. We heard about her music last year and saw pics of her performing, but I hadn’t heard anything beyond that. Good for her – can’t wait to listen to the new album!
Leighton Meester left at home the short minidresses, miniskirts, the lace and the frills last night, when she showed up at the Gotham Film Awards in NYC in a gray suit with a matching tie.

‘Gossip Girl’ Katie Cassidy Ate Cake for 15 Hours Straight
Gossip Girl’s Katie Cassidy (24) wants to share a food story:
“I’m a healthy eater and before I went to Budapest I was experimenting being vegan and had been vegan for like six months, and Budapest is like, literally goulash and pulled pork. And day one on the set, the directer came up to me and was like, ‘How do you feel about cake? Can you eat cake in this scene?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, actually it would be really funny if my character was scarfing down cake in this scene.’
“So little did I realize that this actual scene took 15 hours to shoot, so I was eating cake for 15 hours straight and I ate two full cakes to myself.” And Cassidy spent the following three weeks in pain as a result. She adds, “I’m telling you, when you go from being vegan to eating cake like that, your bowels are frozen for probably three weeks!”

Clad in Emilio Pucci, the “Gossip Girl” actress worked the arrivals area at the Nashville, Tennessee music extravaganza before heading inside to grab a prime seat ahead of the show's 8PM start time on ABC.
Set to take the stage during the annual CMAs for performances are a full slate of top names including Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swift, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, just to name a few.
Meanwhile, the show is once again being co-hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood - marking the third year-in-a-row the duo have helmed the growingly popular country showcase.

Not wasting any time in getting to work on her new gig, Leighton Meester spent the weekend shooting a commercial for the next Vera Wang fragrance.
Shot by photographer Carter Smith, Miss Wang previously explained that she chose the "Gossip Girl" actress for the campaign because she "has the beauty, talent and spirit will inspire all the young women that I hope will enjoy this passionate, new young fragrance".
With the new scent due out in stores next summer, many of the details are being closely guarded at this point.
Supposedly getting $3 million for the work efforts, a source told the NY Post, "This is a huge deal for a young star and one that will turn some of Leighton's 'Gossip Girl' castmates green with envy."

Katie Cassidy Throws Sister a LAVO Bachelorette Bash
Making for quite the fine reason to celebrate, Katie Cassidy threw her sister a bachelorette party in New York City on Saturday night (October 23).
The Cassidy gals and a few friends made their way over to LAVO New York, smiling while posing for a few pictures in between drinks and dancing at the Big Apple hotspot.
In related news, Miss Cassidy recently spoke with HollywoodLife about the transition as a newcomer to the already established cast of "Gossip Girl".
Revealing that Leighton Meester helped make it easier, she said, “I knew most of them before we started shooting but I’m really close to Leighton Meester. She’s definitely someone I spend a lot of time with."
As for Katie and Leighton's non-work preferences, Miss Cassidy told, “She takes me to a bunch of restaurants, I love the West Village. I’m really close with her because we just did a movie over in Europe recently, so we literally went from Europe straight to New York.” (Hollywood Gossip)
